Dr Frank Lawlis Ph.D., A.B.P.P. received his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University with an emphasis on Medical Psychology. He has pioneered research and clinical methods in research methodology and statistics, imagery techniques (cancer), pain perception and rehabilitation, biofeedback, transpersonal psychology, and most recently, psycho-neuro-plasticity.

Dr Lawlis will present relevant factors of the influence of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) on healing the disease of addiction. The concept of psychoneuroplasticity, which highlights the principles of brain pattern change in addiction rehabilitation, will be presented as foundational to the process. The multiphasic, sequential process of addiction rehabilitation will be reviewed; the first phase of healing the brain with the same principle that a broken bone requires healing before physical rehabilitation can be beneficial; the second phase of correcting brain patterns from addiction thinking; and the third phase of addressing co-occurring diagnoses. QEEG profiles will be presented that represent patients with addiction disease, then applications of HBOT as relevant to the three stages of rehabilitation will be reviewed.
